Here’s your roundup of the best things to do around San Jose this weekend—don’t miss last-minute spooky recs for Halloween, Dia de los Muertos celebrations, and a small local comedy show.

🌟 Last-Minute Halloween Spooky Recs

If you just want to check out some neighborhoods that go full-on for spooky season, check out Willow Glen’s Vernon Ave. and Willow Street! Here are a few special houses you can visit on Halloween (they should all be free, but you can make donations to the local causes they support)—make sure you check out their guidelines for parking and visiting:

🌟 4 Weekend Events to Attend

  • When: Fri. (11/1), 2-8PM

  • Where: 112 Paseo de San Antonio, San Jose, CA 95112

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Celebrate the Mexican holiday “Day of the Dead” with colorful altars, Aztec dance performances, live mariachi, DIY pinata station, and face painting. There will also be a small maker popup with 12 local businesses. Dog friendly!

  • When: Sat. (11/2), 5:30-10:30PM

  • Where: Mexican Heritage Plaza (1700 Alum Rock, San Jose, CA 95116)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with this vibrant altar walk created by local artists and community groups. Once you finish the altar walk, there will be free face painting, Dia de Los Muertos themed wrestling by Pro Wrestling Revolution, and local artisans selling handmade goods at the plaza.

  • When: Sat. (11/2), 8-9:30PM

  • Where: Mysterieux Brand (28 North Almaden Avenue #30, San Jose, CA 95110)

  • Price: $12-$14.64 (buy tickets)

  • Description: A cool unique comedy show featuring top comedians in the Bay area at super affordable prices (plus, no drink minimum!). Headliner for this show is Phil Griffiths, who has headlined for San Francisco’s Punch Line Comedy Club and opened for other top comedians. I’ll be going—so say hi if you see me in the crowd 🙂 

  • When: Sun. (11/3), 12-4PM

  • Where: 1165 Lincoln Ave., San Jose, CA 95125

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: A cozy popup market featuring over 20 local small business. Stop by to shop for some new plant friends, jewelry, handmade goods, and holiday gifts.

đźš— 1 Place to Visit

  • Where: 233 Blossom Hill Rd., Los Gatos, CA 95032

  • Price: $4/person

  • Description: Want a chill outing after Halloween craziness? Bring your family or family person and hop on this cute mini train ride. Tickets are only $4/person, and it’ll take you on a ~10 minute ride around the park. You can also picnic at the nearby Oak Meadow or Vasona Park and take a spin on the W.E. “Bill” Mason Carousel (tickets also $4/person)!

  • Where: 14178 Blossom Hill Rd., Los Gatos, CA 95032

  • Description: An upscale restaurant with bold Slavic flavors, seasonal ingredients, and a modern ambiance—perfect for a date night or special celebration. Try their pacific halibut, mushroom and english sweet potato pappardelle, and apple cake.
