Welcome back to SJ Weekender. It’s been a super busy week for me, so we’ll only be having the event recs section this week (the other usual sections will return next week)—hope that’s ok with everyone!

Without further ado, here’s your roundup of the best things to do around San Jose this weekend—don’t miss the San Jose Halloween Bar Crawl, Maum Pop-Up Market, and Winchester Mystery House’s Unhinged Hotel.

🌟5 Weekend Events to Attend

  • When: Fri. (10/25) 6PM-2AM, Sat. 4PM-2AM (10/26), and Thurs. 6PM-2AM (10/31)

  • Where: Downtown San Jose (Dr. Funk for registration/check-in)

  • Price: $24.55 (buy tickets)

  • Description: Grab your Halloween costumes and get ready to party the night away. This bar crawl gets you into over 7 downtown bars with no cover (plus drink specials all night!). There’s also another bar crawl on Saturday (10/26) hosted by another group with different bar venues, free afterparty, and a social media costume contest—see which one you prefer!

  • When: Sat. (10/26), 12-4PM

  • Where: Cityline Sunnyvale (241 South Taaffe St., Sunnyvale, CA 94086)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: The first Maum Market event in Silicon valley. This cute pop-up marketplace showcases over 50+ Asian-owned small businesses, including shops like A Jar of Pickles, August Days, Huang Pottery, and Nindogu. Dog friendly!

  • When: Sat. (10/26), 10AM-6PM

  • Where: Sunnyvale Community Center (550 East Remington Dr., Sunnyvale, CA94087)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Celebrate the Indian Festival of Lights at this family-friendly community event. There will be traditional dance performances, Indian handicrafts, henna, delicious Indian food, and more.

  • When: Sun. (10/27), 10AM-4PM

  • Where: Murphy Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

  • Price: Free admission (registration needed)

  • Description: Dress up your dog/cat/platypus/favorite furry friend and show them off at this annual pet parade show. Register your pet for the parade, get perpetual bragging rights (and special prizes) at the costume contest, or flaunt their special skills at the talent contest.

  • When: Select nights until 11/2

  • Where: Winchester Mystery House (525 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA 95128)

  • Price: $75-$96 (buy tickets)

  • Description: If you’re brave enough, get your ultimate spooky thrill at our famous local haunted house (allegedly actually haunted!). The experience lasts around 45 minutes through all 4 floors of the haunted mansion and includes an outdoor misty scare zone.
