Campbell Oktoberfest, Chinese Fall Culture Fair, and the Dia San Jose festival

Welcome back to SJ Weekender. Hereā€™s your roundup of the best things to do around San Jose this weekendā€”donā€™t miss the Campbell Oktoberfest, Chinese Fall Culture Fair, and the Dia San Jose festival.

P.S. I found out that the Gizdich Ranch apple U-Pick I recommended last week ended up closing for the season the day after I publishedā€”hope you were able to still enjoy a slice of their pies if you ended up going šŸ˜­ Unfortunately, I donā€™t run these events, so for peace of mind in the future Iā€™d definitely recommend double checking event details before you head out!

šŸŒŸ4 Weekend Events to Attend

  • When: Sun. (10/20), 12-6PM

  • Where: West Valley College Parking Lots 3 & 4 (14000 Fruitvale Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: No need to fly all the way to Chinaā€”get styled in hanfu makeup and hair, create traditional sugar paintings, paint fans, and more at this event. There will also be delicious Asian food options, Kung-fu performances, and even adorable capybara plushies as special participation gifts.

  • When: Sat. (10/19) 10AM-6PM, Sun. (10/20) 10AM-5PM

  • Where: 267 E. Campbell Ave. Suite C, Campbell, CA 95008

  • Price: Free admission (you can pre-purchase drink tickets here)

  • Description: Hype yourself up for Oktoberfest with this large 2-day festive event. There will be authentic German food and music, over 100 artisans, a stein-holding contest for beer, a ā€œbest dressedā€ costume contest, and more.

  • When: Sat. (10/19), 11AM-7PM

  • Where: St. Leo (88 Race St, San Jose, CA 95126); On the grass field behind the church

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Looking for a new leafy friend? Get your plant and holiday shopping in while celebrating Oktoberfest at this 4th annual event. There will be lots of plant vendors, local makers, food, drinks, and more.

  • When: Sat. (10/19) 11AM-7PM

  • Where: Plaza de Cesar Chavez (1 Paseo de San Antonio, San Jose, CA 95113)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month with a full day of vibrant cultural activities. There will be delicious Mexican food, lowrider altars, live wrestling matches by Pro Wrestling Revolution, over 100 maker vendors, Chicano artists, and more. Get a head start on the fun and swing by the ā€œOldies Never Dieā€ event Friday after work for music and good vibes.

  • Where: 55 Peckham Rd., Watsonville CA 95076

  • Price: Free admission (but bring cash if you want to buy pumpkins/do activities)

  • Description: Still havenā€™t gotten your pumpkin for fall yet? Visit this lovely pumpkin patch/farm for a festive experience that wonā€™t break the bank. Pick your perfect pumpkin, feed cute farm animals, try your hand at a corn maze, go pumpkin bowling, and more.

šŸ‘€ New to SJ

  • Where: 2951 Monterey Rd Unit 50, San Jose, CA 95111

  • Description: A family-run pizza joint with super light dough and homemade sauce. Try their smoky BBQ chicken ($29.99, large), Gardenia ($29.99, large), and E-Roni pizzas ($24.99, large). They also have multiple deals going on, including an all-you-can-eat lunch special ($14.99) for pizza, parmesan sticks, and salad between 11AM and 3PM.
