Welcome back to SJ Weekender. Fatherā€™s Day and Juneteenth are just around the corner, and I got some ideas for you to celebrate (or just have a fun lil adventure āœØ).

Hereā€™s your roundup of 5 fun things to do around San Jose this weekendā€”check out cool music festivals, a Fatherā€™s Day lunch pop-up at a local farm stand, and some interesting new restaurants.

šŸŒŸ 3 Events to Attend

  • When: Sat. (6/15), 11AM-8PM

  • Where: Plaza de Cesar Chavez (1 Paseo de San Antonio, San Jose CA 95113)

  • Price: $30 admission ($40 for 2 tickets when you buy in advance)

  • Description: Enjoy world-class blues, gospel, soul, R&B, and rock performances from artists like Terrie Odabi, John Nemeth, Delgado Brothers, and more. Grab a drink at the craft beer garden and try Southern-style BBQ as you browse artisan booths. Plus, check out the afterparty to celebrate John Nemethā€™s last performance.

  • When: Sat. (6/15), 12-7PM

  • Where: SOFA District, Downtown San Jose

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Celebrate Juneteenth in downtown SJ with performances by headliner Marsha Ambosius and Alabama State University and Floria A&M marching bands. Thereā€™ll also be food and maker vendors to check out.

  • When: Sat. (6/15), 12-5PM

  • Where: Barebottle Brewing Company (2520 Augustine Drive Santa Clara, CA 95054)

  • Price: Free admission

  • Description: Support this small popup of local makers and artists! Browse jewelry, plant-based skincare, candles, and more while sipping craft brew from SF. Pet friendly.

 šŸš— 1 Place to Visit

  • Where: 15025 Carter Ave, San Jose, CA 95118

  • When: Tues-Thurs (9AM-5PM), Fri.-Sun. (9AM-6PM)

  • Description: Buy the best seasonal fruits, veggies, and goodies at this local family farm stand. Check out their Fatherā€™s Day kitchen pop-up for some freshly made farm treats, or buy a gift crate for dad. Cash or Venmo only.

 šŸ½ļø 1 Restaurant to Try  

  • Where: 840 North 1st St San Jose, CA 95112

  • Description: One of the best soul food places in SJ. Plus, itā€™s a woman-led, family operated, and black owned business! Try their fried fish ($20), fried chicken ($20), and candied yams ($6).*

šŸ‘€ New to SJ

Check out these restaurants that opened recently!

  • Where: 50 Skyport Dr, San Jose, CA 95110

  • Description: An atmospheric store next to the San Jose Airport that offers both gourmet grocery items and delicious meals. For a weekend brunch, try their pancake of the weekend ($18) and green eggs & ham ($16). They also have a Thursday Buck Night with buffalo wings ($5), smash burgers ($5), and buckā€™etā€™ of fried chicken ($35).*

  • Where: 2565 California St St 501, Mountain View, CA 94040

  • Description: 13-time world pizza champion Tony Gemignaniā€™s first South-Bay restaurant. Try unique artisan pizzas like their apricot fields pizza ($7.50/slice), purple potato pizza ($6.35/slice), and motorhead pizza ($7.25/slice).
