Welcome back to SJ Weekender. Here’s your roundup of 5 fun things to do around San Jose this weekend—check out a stargazing opportunity, a local makers’ popup, and some new small businesses to support.
🌟 3 Events to Attend
When: Sat. (6/29), 9:30-11:30PM
Where: Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve (4289 Casa Loma Road Morgan Hill, CA 95037)
Price: Free admission (but registration needed)
Description: Escape the city life with a night of stargazing just 25 minutes south of downtown SJ. Night skies are dark enough that you might be able to see the Milky Way! There will be telescopes with docent astronomers who will help guide your stargazing experience. Make sure to register before going.
When: Sat. (6/29), 10AM-12:20PM
Where: Arena Green West (North Autumn Street San Jose, CA 95113)
Price: $17-$18
Description: Get your body moving to the rhythms of Brazil at this Brazilian Samba dance class. There’s an introductory class covering the basics for beginners as well as an intermediate class for those already familiar with the basics. You can also contact them to pay directly and avoid the $2 Eventbrite fee.
When: Sun. (6/30), 11:30AM-4:30PM

Price: Free admission
Description: Check out this small popup of local makers and artists at a German brewery. Shop handmade jewelry, embroidery art, plants, and more while enjoying craft beer. Pet friendly.

Description: Bring your date, friends, or family for a fun movie-watching experience at this drive-in theater. Showings this weekend include Inside Out 2, The Exorcism, and A Quiet Place: Day One. They also have discounted $6 movie nights on Tuesdays.

Description: Get some comforting Middle-Eastern, Indo-Pakistani, and Afghan dishes at this hole-in-the-wall family restaurant. Try their chicken tikka masala ($13.75), chicken samosa ($4.50), and beef kebab with biryani rice ($17.50).*

Description: Angelou’s has recently reopened in downtown SJ after closing their doors near the end of 2023. Try their beloved Cali-Burrito ($12.25), Chile Relleno ($14.95), and orange sauce.*
